Chichester Secure Dog Park is committed to providing a safe and controlled environment for visitors and their dogs. To protect the safety of customers, their pets, and neighbouring properties, we operate a strict policy regarding dogs that fall under UK dangerous dog legislation.
Due to insurance requirements and safety considerations, certain dog types are not permitted to use the facilities.
1. Legal Framework
This policy follows the provisions of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and subsequent amendments.
Under UK law, certain dog types are prohibited unless they are legally registered on the Index of Exempted Dogs and meet strict legal requirements.
These dog types include:
Pit Bull Terrier Japanese Tosa Dogo Argentino Fila Brasileiro Additional government regulations introduced in 2024 also restrict XL Bully dogs, which must meet exemption requirements if legally kept.
2. Prohibited Dog Types at Chichester Secure Dog Park
For insurance and safety reasons, the following dog types are not permitted to use Chichester Secure Dog Park, regardless of exemption status:
Pit Bull Terrier Japanese Tosa Dogo Argentino Fila Brasileiro XL Bully dogs Although some restricted dogs may legally be kept under exemption schemes in the UK, they are not permitted to use the facilities at Chichester Secure Dog Park due to insurance and safety requirements.
3. Identification and Verification
Owners may be asked to confirm the breed or type of their dog if there is uncertainty.
Acceptable forms of verification may include:

Failure to comply may result in termination of the session without refund. Repeat breaches may result in refusal of future bookings.
